Enhancing a photo with AI photo retouching

Adjust the brightness, sky or season, showcase an outdoor space and blur faces and license plates in just a few clicks.

Written by Sophie Delpech

In brief

The Enhance tool improves the overall look of your photos to make them more attractive in your listings.

It has two sections:

  • Improve: adjust the brightness and, for outdoor photos, the sky, the season and the overall condition of a garden, terrace or balcony;

  • Blur: automatically hide faces and license plates before publishing.

It is the ideal tool to showcase a property in any weather, without misrepresenting it.

Before you start

Your photo must be added to a project. If it isn't yet, see the article Getting started with AI photo retouching.

Enhancing a photo with AI photo retouching

Step 1: Open the Enhance tool

Open your project, click the photo you want to retouch, then click Enhance in the left menu.

Step 2: Improve the photo

In the Improve section, choose one or more settings. They are all applied at once.

The settings offered depend on the type of photo. On an indoor photo, only the Brightness setting is available.

On an outdoor photo, you also have the Sky, Season and Showcase settings. If the detected room type is incorrect, change it above the photo.

  • Brightness: adjusts the overall brightness of the photo. Options: Low, Natural (default), Bright or Very bright.

  • Sky: replaces or improves the sky in an outdoor photo. Options: Fair weather (default), Slightly cloudy, Blue sky, Late afternoon or Nightfall.

  • Season: adapts the outdoor surroundings to a season, with a realistic result. Options: Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. For winter, two variants are offered: Natural winter (default), with light snow, or Snowy winter, with more snow.

  • Showcase: makes a garden, terrace or balcony cleaner, well-kept and attractive, without changing its structure. Options: Refresh (default) or Add flowers.

Then click Enhance to start the retouch.

Step 3: Blur faces and license plates

In the Blur section, choose Faces, License plates or Both (default), then click Blur.

The AI automatically detects the areas concerned and Danim blurs them. The rest of the photo is not changed.

Step 4: Check and download your photo

Click Before / After to compare with the original photo. The history keeps every version: you can go back to a previous version at any time.

If you are happy with the result, you can add a watermark with the Watermark tool (see the article Adding a watermark to your retouched photos), then download the photo from the … menu on the photo, or all the photos in the project with Export all images.

FAQ

1. Why doesn't the Showcase setting appear?

Showcase is only offered for a garden, terrace or balcony. Danim relies on the room type of the photo: check that it matches one of these outdoor spaces.

2. Can I combine several settings?

Yes. In the Improve section, you can for example choose a brightness, a sky and a season: they are applied together, in a single retouch. At least one setting must be selected.

3. The message "No sensitive area detected in this image." is displayed, what should I do?

The AI did not find any faces or license plates in the photo. Your photo has not been changed.

4. Does blurring change the rest of the photo?

No. Only the detected areas are blurred, the rest of the photo is unchanged.

5. Should I indicate that a photo has been retouched?

As soon as the retouch changes the overall atmosphere (sky replaced, season changed, lighting greatly increased), we recommend adding a visible mention such as "Atmosphere suggestion by Danim" with the Watermark tool. This way, you stay transparent with your buyers or tenants.

6. How long does the retouch take?

The retouch usually takes a few seconds. It can take longer depending on the size of your photo and the quality of your connection. Let the processing finish before starting a new action.

7. How do I delete a photo from a project?

Open the photo, click the … menu on the photo, then choose Delete image.

Best practices 🎓

  • Work from sharp, well-exposed photos taken from a steady angle.

  • Take your photos in full daylight whenever possible, even if the sky is gray: the AI will work from an already bright base.

  • Avoid blurry or very dark photos: the AI can improve the lighting, but cannot recreate lost details.

  • Blur faces and license plates before any publication.

  • Always check the result with Before / After before using your photos in your listings.

Keywords: change the sky, replace the sky, blue sky, weather, bad weather, gray weather, sun, brighten, brightness, season, snow, winter, garden, terrace, balcony, add flowers, blur, face, license plate, anonymize, image retouching, property showcase.
